How to Use Meta Pixel on Your Music Smart Links to Build Retargeting Audiences
Every fan who visits your smart link page is a potential retargeting audience. Here is how to add Meta Pixel to your Lynkify links and turn your promotion traffic into ad audiences.
Meta Pixel on your smart links and bio page turns every fan visit into a retargeting opportunity. Fans who clicked your Instagram story, visited your smart link, but did not stream your music or join your email list can be shown targeted ads on Instagram and Facebook. Here is how to set it up.
1. What Meta Pixel does on a music smart link
Meta Pixel is a small piece of code that fires when someone visits a web page. When you add your Pixel ID to your Lynkify workspace, the Pixel fires on every smart link page visit, every bio page visit, and every form visit. Meta's system records these visitors (matched to their Facebook and Instagram accounts) and adds them to a custom audience you can target with ads. Fans who visited your smart link but did not stream your music are a warm retargeting audience — they showed interest but did not convert.
2. How to add Meta Pixel to your Lynkify workspace
You need a Lynkify Artist or Label plan to use pixel tracking. In your Lynkify workspace settings, navigate to Integrations. Find the Pixels section. Enter your Meta Pixel ID (found in Meta Business Manager → Events Manager → your pixel → Pixel ID). Save. Lynkify automatically places the Pixel on all your public smart link pages, bio pages, and form pages. No code required.
3. Building retargeting audiences from your smart link traffic
In Meta Business Manager → Audiences, create a Custom Audience from your Pixel. Select 'Website' and choose your Pixel. Define the audience: people who visited your website (all smart link traffic) in the last 30 days, or a longer window if your traffic is lower. This audience updates automatically. When you run a promotional campaign for a new release, this warm audience of previous smart link visitors consistently outperforms cold audiences by 3-5x on click-through rates.
4. The release week retargeting workflow
Set up your Lynkify smart link with Meta Pixel 2-4 weeks before your release date. During your pre-release promotion, organic social posts drive fans to your smart link — building your Pixel audience. On release day, launch a Meta ad campaign targeting this custom audience with your release announcement. You are reaching people who already showed interest in your music during the pre-release period. This campaign typically costs significantly less and converts significantly higher than ads to cold audiences.
5. Lookalike audiences: scale your best fans
Once you have 100+ Pixel events (visitors to your smart links), Meta can create a Lookalike Audience — people who share characteristics with your existing visitors. A Lookalike Audience based on your smart link visitors or email subscribers (uploaded as a Custom Audience) targets fans who do not know you yet but closely resemble the fans who already engaged with your music. This is how you scale beyond your existing audience without cold targeting.
