How to Use Custom Domains for Your Music Smart Links

Custom domain smart links look more professional than platform-branded URLs in press materials, EPKs, and professional contexts. Instead of 'lynkify.in/r/your-release,' your smart links use 'music.yourartistname.com/r/your-release.' Here is how to set it up on Lynkify.

1. Purchase or identify your domain

You need a domain you own. Most artists use a subdomain of their main artist website — for example, 'links.yourname.com' or 'music.yourbandname.com.' This keeps your primary website domain separate from your Lynkify smart link domain. If you do not have a domain yet, register one through Namecheap, Google Domains, or Cloudflare Registrar — all three offer competitive pricing and good DNS management.

2. Upgrade to the Lynkify Artist plan

Custom domains require the Artist plan (or Label plan). On the Artist plan, you can connect one custom domain to your workspace. On the Label plan, each workspace gets its own custom domain. Upgrade in your workspace billing settings if you are on the Free plan.

3. Add a CNAME record in your domain DNS settings

Log in to your domain registrar (where you bought your domain). Navigate to DNS settings. Create a CNAME record: Name/Host = the subdomain you want to use (e.g., 'links' for links.yourname.com), Value/Points to = your Lynkify workspace domain (Lynkify provides this in the domain settings screen). DNS changes typically propagate within 24-48 hours, though many propagate within 1-2 hours.

4. Verify the domain in Lynkify

In your Lynkify workspace, go to Settings → Domain. Enter your custom domain (e.g., links.yourname.com) and click Verify. Lynkify checks that your CNAME record is pointing correctly. If verification fails, confirm your CNAME record is saved correctly in your registrar and wait a few more hours for DNS propagation before trying again.

Once your custom domain is verified, all your existing Lynkify smart links and bio pages automatically serve from your custom domain. Links you have already shared (including old social posts) redirect correctly. You do not need to update any existing links or notify anyone about the change.

Frequently asked questions

Will my old smart links still work after I add a custom domain?
Yes. All previously shared Lynkify links automatically redirect to the new custom domain. Your old lynkify.in smart link URLs remain functional — they just redirect to the same page served from your custom domain.
