How to Create a Music Smart Link: Step-by-Step Guide
Create one URL that sends fans to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and 20+ streaming platforms. Step-by-step guide with best practices for independent artists.
A music smart link solves the multi-platform problem every artist faces on release day: your fans are on different streaming platforms, but you can only share one link. A Lynkify smart link creates a single URL that routes each fan to their preferred streaming service, tracks every click, and can capture fan emails — all in one shared link.
1. Start a new Release Link in Lynkify
Log in to your Lynkify workspace and navigate to Release Links. Click 'Create New.' You can import metadata automatically by pasting a Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, or Amazon Music URL — Lynkify will pull in the track title, artist name, and release artwork. If your music is not yet live on platforms, you can create the link manually and add streaming URLs as they become available.
2. Add all your streaming platform URLs
Add links for every platform where your music is available: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Audiomack, and any others relevant to your market. Fans only see platform buttons for URLs you have added. For a global release, prioritizing Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Deezer covers the majority of streaming listeners worldwide.
3. Set up fan email capture
Fan capture is available on all Lynkify plans. On your release link settings, enable the email capture option and customize the prompt copy — for example, 'Join my list for early access to new music.' You can gate the streaming links behind the email form or display capture as an optional add-on after fans choose their platform.
4. Customize the page appearance
Upload your release artwork if it did not import automatically. Customize the page title, description, and any additional text you want fans to see. On paid plans, you can remove Lynkify branding and apply your custom domain. Artists on the Artist plan can also add a Meta Pixel ID for retargeting.
5. Publish and share your link
Click Publish to make your smart link live. Copy the URL — it looks like lynkify.in/r/your-release-slug or, on custom domains, music.yourname.com/r/your-release-slug. Share this one URL across your Instagram bio, TikTok, Twitter, email, and any press materials. Check Analytics after 48 hours to see which platforms fans are choosing and where your traffic is coming from.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need an account to create a smart link on Lynkify?
- You can create a basic smart link without an account. Creating a Lynkify account (free) lets you save your links, access analytics, capture fan emails, and edit your links after sharing.
- Can I change my smart link after I have shared it?
- Yes. All Lynkify smart links are editable at any time. If a streaming URL changes after your distributor updates it, you can update the destination without changing the URL you already shared. All your social posts, press mentions, and email campaigns still work.
- How many streaming platforms can I add to one smart link?
- Lynkify supports 22+ streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Audiomack, Boomplay, Anghami, JioSaavn, Gaana, and more. Add as many as your release is available on.
