How to Read Your Smart Link Analytics
Your Lynkify Analytics dashboard tells you which streaming platforms your fans prefer, where your traffic is coming from, and how your campaigns are performing. Here is how to read it.
Analytics without interpretation are just numbers. This guide shows you how to read your Lynkify smart link analytics, what each metric means, and how to translate data into better release decisions.
1. Total views vs unique visitors
Total views count every time your smart link page was loaded — including multiple visits from the same person. Unique visitors count each distinct visitor once. If your smart link has 1,000 views but 700 unique visitors, 300 of those views came from repeat visits. For measuring campaign reach, unique visitors is the more relevant metric.
2. Platform click breakdown
The platform breakdown shows which streaming service fans chose after landing on your smart link — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, etc. This data tells you where your fans actually listen, which may differ from the platforms you assumed they use. If 50% of your fans click Apple Music but you have been optimizing your Spotify pitching, the data suggests diversifying your platform focus.
3. Traffic sources
Traffic sources show where your visitors came from before landing on your smart link — direct (no referrer), social platforms, email campaigns, press articles, or search. If your Instagram posts are generating significantly more traffic than your email sends, either your email list is small or your Instagram content is particularly strong. Traffic source data guides where to invest promotion time and budget.
4. Geographic breakdown
The country and city breakdown shows where your fans are located. For independent artists without professional marketing support, fan location data often reveals markets where organic traction is growing unexpectedly. If 30% of your smart link clicks come from Nigeria despite releasing music primarily for a US audience, that is a signal worth acting on — consider playlist pitching to curators who serve that market.
5. Fan capture rate
Fan capture rate shows what percentage of smart link visitors provided their email address. A typical rate is 5-15% for optional capture and 15-30% for gated capture. If your capture rate is consistently below 5%, review your capture prompt copy — a more specific, benefit-driven ask typically improves conversion. If it is above 30%, you have a high-intent audience and might consider increasing what you offer in exchange for emails.
Frequently asked questions
- How long should I wait before reviewing my smart link analytics?
- Check analytics 24-48 hours after your release promotion begins. This gives enough data to identify early patterns without over-indexing on initial noise. Review again at 7 days and 30 days for a complete picture of sustained performance versus launch day spike.
